Our cavapoo has been amazing so far. Loves all dogs and humans! Super friendly and is adjusting with our family well. We brought our puppy home at 4 months and we could see right away that Leona at Family Affair Puppies definitely did a great job of socializing him. Communication with her was great and her follow-up after a couple of weeks just solidified that this wasn’t just a transaction, but that she cares that the puppies she rehomes are happy and healthy with their new families.

The best review I can give is that after adopting Boujee a year and a half ago, we just adopted a companion for him (and ourselves). He has been an absolute joy in our lives and we can't wait to add to our family. We have to drive about 4 hours to reach Topeka, but it's worth every mile. Leona followed up several times after our initial adoption and Boujee was in excellent health upon receipt. We can't wait to bring home our newest furbaby.

Family Affairs Puppies is a warm, caring, and meticulously organized family-owned breeder. We received a 5-month-old Shih Tzu, and he is absolutely perfect. He was already mostly potty trained, has been extremely friendly with our kids and everyone else from the very beginning, and is absolutely adorable. He has quickly become a beloved new member of our family!

My 15 month follow-up appointment plus a booster shot for my 4-month old Family Affair Golden Retriever puppies: At the 4-month old puppy’s initial exam, my vet said he was extremely healthy and exceptional plus, expressed many praises for the care he was given from the breeder. All vaccinations, shots, exams…and all of the paperwork in perfect order. Now for my 15-month old puppy’s exam, I was very pleased to hear it all again! My vet, who also happens to breed golden retrievers, said three times they were exceptionally extraordinary pups and I really hit the jackpot. After the third time he said I have two extraordinary pups, I asked him what was he seeing that made him say that. He said your breeder - both pups had all the care they should have had before homing them, plus it was clearly documented. The pups disposition and conformation speak volumes for the care and contentiousness of the breeder. So many are being inbred now and it is a treat to see these two pups that have been so carefully bred and cared for. That’s what will keep the breed a highly respected breed. Leona - thank you for doing all you do and for the first-class way you do it.

Absolutely fabulous experience of finding the right puppy for us. Pippi and our 3 yr old Shichon, Josie, are getting along so well. We spent several hours with Leona learning of her standards for breeding and puppy care. She truly puts all the efforts in of knowing the genetic backgrounds of the parents and going forward with the good care a puppy needs. I wanted to wait until Charlie had his first wellness check to post this review. Since this is my second puppy from Family Affair Puppies I was not concerned at all. The vet’s comment after examination was “you’ve got an extremely healthy, happy puppy. Your breeder has done a wonderful job of keeping all shots and records up to date and in order. I wish all breeders were like yours.” It doesn’t get any better than that, does it! Leona was so patient with us, wanting to be sure we were getting the puppy we wanted and that wanted us. From sitting on the floor interacting with the puppies for almost 2 hours to pictures and updating us on his little personality to patiently spending another couple of hours when it was time to pick him up. I think Leona enjoyed watching us interact with the puppies as much as we did. I think her goal is to offer the healthiest, happiest puppies to their perfectly matched forever homes. I’m so thankful she gave us as much time as we wanted to find the perfect match and to be sure Charlie felt the same. She loves her puppies! It’s obvious Charlie has known nothing but love and kindness. We intend to keep it that way.

We had a wonderful experience adopting our puppy from Family Affair. It was the first time we purchased a puppy without meeting her as we fell in love with Family Affair pups but we live in California. Leona was such a good communicator, answering all of our questions, taking videos of our pup and arranging for two weeks of training and transportation from Indiana to our home in California. We wanted a companion for our sweet Shih Tzu, Max and found the perfect sister for him. When we brought her home, she already had the basics of potty training mastered. Such kind people to deal with and do an excellent job raising these beautiful puppies! We got our little girl two weeks ago and she is doing amazing! Loved her crate from day 1, is 12 weeks old and almost potty trained! We can tell the owners truly love each of their dogs.

Family Affair Puppies is THE BEST! Leona and Olivia are professional, kind and supportive. When we arrived, they allowed us to interact with 5 puppies and they didn't rush us or put any pressure on us. They answered questions clearly. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. We bought Nellie, a 12 week old shitzu, and she is wonderful. She is learning very fast. After 2 weeks, she is already going to the door to let us know that she needs to potty. She is learning commands and sleeps quietly through the night, except for letting us know when she needs to go outside. She has learned to like her kennel for rest during the day. We have had a couple questions and Leona has helped us quickly, each time. We recommend them without any reservations!!

I lost my sweet dog after 18 years!! I decided I still had so much love to give. My daughters’s friend told us about Family Affair Puppies and this wonderful family where they got their puppy. So we gave Leona a call. I knew from the moment I spoke to her, this is where my puppy was waiting for me. We are so thrilled with our new addition, Milo Oliver, a toy poodle. We found Family Affair Puppies through an internet search and learned they had litters of a few of the breeds that we were looking for. Leona was always timely in communications and helpful with answers. We like to interact with a puppy to understand its natural temperament before selecting. We arranged a visit (drive from MI) to interact with some of the puppies that interested us and Leona allowed us to see a couple of younger litters to consider as well. She, John and their daughter were welcoming and accommodating. John told us about their breeding standards and it's obvious they've been doing this for a long time and take pride in what they do. The dogs have safe and ample room to play and are well socialized with humans and other dogs. We selected a sweet 4-month-old Shih Tzu and he's doing very well with training and integrating into our family. Our vet checked him out and confirmed that we have a very healthy puppy. I wouldn't hesitate to go to this breeder again in the future.

We bought a toy poodle from this breeder. It was a great experience. The puppy is great representative of the breed. Very good confirmation and was very well socialized. If you’re looking for the best quality puppy out there, this is a breeder you should strongly consider.

Our experience with Family Affair Puppies was very positive. Early discussions over the phone and over zoom were informative and pleasant. It was clear that Leona cares for her puppies. The in-person meet-up was also informative. Everything about the experience was good. Price was reasonable also. We went with a Goldendoodle. About 6 months later, we have no concerns. Puppy is healthy and happy.

Sammie has been an amazing little puppy!!! She is smart and a fast learner…and very loving…and best of all she has been good therapy for both my wife and me. We truly enjoy our little girl and appreciate all that you have done in our puppy quest. On a much different note…my wife’s older sister became very ill about shortly after Sammie arrived…and passed away some 8 weeks later… so Sammie has been a tremendous “support” dog for my wife…and she overwhelmingly adores our new “child”. We truly love our little Sammie!

We lost our 13 year old dog to cancer in Sept. of 2023. We knew she could not be replaced, missed her so much that we started our search for a new dog within weeks. I got little miss piper...she is one of the best blessings I've ever received. Although only seven months, in the four months ive had her, She's been nothing but loving, gentle, intelligent and an overall force to be reckoned with. No matter where we go we are stopped so many times because people just love her. She's such a beautiful dog and the friendliest dog ever. There is no such thing as stranger danger in her world, as she brings so much joy and a smile to everyone that she comes in contact with. Can I give 10 stars, because they deserve 10 stars! Family Affair Puppies is extraordinary! I initially met John and Leona when I joined a friend who was picking up her sweet furbaby. Upon arriving at the property, you could tell the puppies (and the moms and dads) were TOP PRIORITY!!! And then we met John and Leona- to say they are the best people would truly be an understatement. They were so pleasant, kind, and geniune, AND love their puppies. They introduced us to a new litter of ShihTzu's and this is when I met our family's new addition (she was just too little to come home that day) John and Leona were awesome at communicating the progress of our new baby, answering questions, and again, just being kind and geniune! My husband and I have been hesitant to purchase from a 'breeder'-HOWEVER, Family Affair Puppies and John and Leona are NOT BREEDERS by the standard term. We got Precious from Family Affair Puppies. Leona is the sweetest lady and was so patient with us. She kept Precious for us a long time until we could get her because we lived over 6 hours away in TN. Our Precious is so well behaved, and is fitting right into our family. We got our Mini Goldendoodle from John & Leona on 2-14-22 and could not be happier! We had not had a dog in over 20 yrs & never an inside dog, so we were very apprehensive with LOTS of question. We read lots of recommendations of how to go about making sure of getting one from a very reputable breeder that is not just about making money BUT was all about making sure the puppies were well taken care of and maybe most importantly, very socialized with family members. This is indeed a Family Affair taking care of them! We talked to them several times over a period of a few weeks, as well as other breeders, and decided we definitely wanted one from John & Leona because they were as interested in who we were as much as we were them. They invited us to their home for a meet and greet which was unlike several other breeders we talked to--that insisted we meet elsewhere--which was not going to happen. We wanted to see with whom & how they were raised. They genuinely love and care about all their puppies-large and small and concerned about where they go when they leave their home. Their home in Indiana was a 10 hr drive from us, therefore, even debated about looking from a puppy closer to home. Since we could not get this one particular puppy off of our mind (their 'Dora' that we now named 'Josie') plus the fact that they had been so nice, helpful, full of knowledge and definitely patient with all of my many phone calls and texts, we decided on making it a fun road trip and off we went! We were NOT disappointed! We would HIGHLY recommend Family Affair Puppies with John & Leona Troyer. The drive IS worth it- wherever you are!!

John & Leona Troyer are amazing breeders. They sold me an adorable, healthy toy poodle. They were very helpful in the transition into fur parenthood. Answered questions, checked on us, and offered extra support. They went above and beyond. I visited their kennel several times in the process, very clean and orderly. They treat their dogs like family. I highly recommend them!

They are so nice and so informative! I got my female shihpoo from them. I had play time with her before we went home, and they gave us her current food and even some medication for an upset tummy if we need them. They are super easy to work with and always keep you informed on what is going on. 10/10 will be coming back in the future if I ever want another dog 😊😊😊
