Cavapoo

A Cavapoo is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel crossed with a Poodle. Families come to the breed for the reason we chose to raise it: the Cavalier's affection without the Cavalier's coat, and the Poodle's cleverness without the restlessness that sometimes comes with it. We raise our Cavapoos in our home in Osseo, Michigan - in the living room, not a kennel.

Temperament

The temperament is the biggest reason this breed is so loved.

Affectionate shadow

Affectionate to the point of being a shadow - they want to be in the room with you.

They play without being frantic, and settle well in the evening.

A Cavapoo left by itself from morning to evening will let you know about it. We're upfront about this because it's the most common reason a placement doesn't work out.

Keeping a Cavapoo healthy

Brushing
Three or four times a week, more during the coat change around eight to ten months.
Professional grooming
A professional groom every six to eight weeks.
The coat change
Catches people off guard - the puppy coat gives way to the adult coat and mats quickly for a few months. Stay ahead of it with brushing and you'll never have to have your dog shaved down.

Why responsible breeding matters

Every breed carries its own strengths and its own things to watch, and no honest breeder will tell you otherwise. A family deserves the whole picture before they choose a puppy — not a sales pitch.

We would rather you ask us hard questions than wonder later. Here are the ones worth asking any breeder, including us. You can see each puppy’s parents, and their health testing, on the puppy’s own page.

What health testing do you do on the parents?
Every breeder should be able to answer this plainly and without hesitating. Ask what’s been done, and ask what hasn’t — some evaluations can only be done once a dog is fully grown, and a straight answer about that tells you more than a perfect one.
Can I see the results?
Testing means little if nobody can look at it. A breeder who publishes results, or hands them over when asked, is a breeder who expects you to check.
Can I meet the parents?
The parents show you the temperament and condition your puppy is growing into. Meeting them in the home where the litter is raised tells you things no document can.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Ask what’s guaranteed, for how long, and who picks up the phone in a year. The answer to this question is where good breeders and quick sales part ways.

Frequently asked questions about Cavapoos

Most Cavapoos finish between 12 and 16 inches at the shoulder and 12 to 20 pounds, depending mostly on the Poodle parent. They reach close to full height by about eight months and fill out through the first year.

If a particular adult size matters to your family, ask us before you reserve. We know our parent dogs and can tell you honestly which end of that range a puppy is likely to land in. That's a fairer answer than a chart.
